Bedplate Leak

well, I got the news yesterday that the beadplate in my 06 F250 is leaking and they want the truck for two weeks to pull the engine for repairs. Fortunately it is still under the 5/100k warrantee, but I'm NOT happy with the engine having to come out. So, I thought I'd post to get some info regarding dealers in the OC area....

1. What is the best dealer for the job around the Orange County area?
2. Is two weeks necessary? Seems like a long time.
3. I've read of some dealers in Nevada doing a little extra and installing owner-furnished headstuds while the engine was out. I'm more than willing to pay for the extra work...Anyone have any luck with things like this from local dealers?

I think my biggest gripe is that I'd like to do the head studs and EGR cooler eventually, and having the engine out seems like the right time.

They are not pulling the heads for the bedplate. So not sure how that will help you. 2 weeks seems like a long time. It is about a 3 day job. But they could be busy.

Ford fleet in RSM. They do those all the time. The thing with studs is if you get them done and there is an issue like still puking it becomes a major pain in the ass to get it fixed and down time could be 3+ weeks.

The 6.0's have a 2 piece lower block and the oil leaks between those 2 pieces. You'll be able to see oil leaking and maybe a oil on the driveway.

My dads 06 just got out of the shop from a leaking bedplate. It was at sunrise ford. Did a good job. It took them over a week because of a couple trucks ahead of it. They pulled the cab to do the work.

But i had a good experience at Sunrise ford fontana.

Thats a lot of work to do a bedplate. I've seen them just pull the engine out the hood.

It is supposed to be easier to just pull the cab.

Power in Tustin gave me the knews. I asked if the cab needed to be pulled, but they said they could "tilt" the cab and get it out. I assume the radiator and cooler would come out too.

I'm on the fence with the studs. I have not puked and routinely pull around 10k, but I try not to run it too hard. It'd be nice to have it done while the engine is out of the truck....but I'm sure it could void the remaining 2 years of extended warrantee.

Seems like I may just keep driving it and let ford pick up and replace the pieces as they keep falling off or blow up.

You can pull the engine without touching the cab. My 05 engine came out three times and never touched the cab for anything. As for studs if you are going to get them make sure the heads get magnafluxed and checked for cracks and warpage and well make sure everything is perfect before you put it back together. My heads were warped when I got studs and getting that fixed was pretty ugly. I know at Tuttle Click Ford they can do the bedplate with the engine in and cab on. They repair it from underneath the truck.

man, thats got to be a messy job from underneath....I guess I'm just bummed about the whole thing, under the belief that an engine with 30k on it should not have to be pulled...or have the bottom end apart....but enough self-pitty.

Your not the only one. My sisters 06 got new injector o-rings, bedplate, and headgaskets all before 38K miles. 100% stock.

when i had to do my bedplate i did bearings too just because since it was apart y not
