    F350 Super Duty 4x4 ???

When I turn the switch on the dash to 4x4 hi what exactly happens ?

Do I still need to get out and lock the front hubs or ?? Will the 4x4 only work if I lock the hubs?

    Thanks

you shouldnt have to lock the hubs... just switch it to 4wd and you should be good to go

If everything is working properly in the system there's no need to lock the hubs manually - when you turn the electronic shift on the fly switch the 4wd transfer case engages and a vacuum pulse is sent to the front hubs to lock them.

Nice to have a back up if the automatic locks don't work.....especially if you're somewhere where you need them.

exactly. it is a semi common issue with the ESOF 4x4 on our trucks.

One little vaccuum leak and your 4x4 will not work. it is nice to lock into 4x4 and not have to get out in the muc or in the cold to do it. but if you need 4x mode and you can not get the auto lock to work you will be really thank full you have the manual locking hubs. every off roader i know has manual hubs because vaccuum lines will eventually fail. sooooo, it is just a good back up
