Sled Pull in Southern California Sept. 19th

Hey everyone, this is my first post here, but I've been around the diesel forums for a number of years. As my sig. suggests, I'm a Cummins owner, but most of all I'm a Diesel freak like the rest of you.

Anyway, on to the good stuff. The first sled pull in Southern California(to my knowledge) is coming on September 19th at the Agua Dulce airpark in Agua Dulce, CA. Its only about an hour north of metro LA so its close for everyone. If you know where LACR is, its about 25 minutes south of there off the 14 freeway.

Its the 1st annual High Desert Diesel Roundup and Sled Pull. This is an all brands diesel event that will include a Sled Pull, show and shine, vendors, BBQ, and possibly some seminars. These sled pull events up in central and Northern Cal are typically dominated by the Dodge Cummins guys, but I know that Southern Cal is Powerstroke land, so lets get a lot of you out there and see what you can do. I've been giving the pullers from up north a heads up that this is Powerstrokeville and that they shouldn't be suprised to see you guys out in force. Don't make a liar out of me. I know a few of you (superf350) have been to the pulls up north. There will be different class depending on modifications and vehicle weight. I will get that info out ASAP.
I've got some good vendors from this area who are interested in getting involved so show your support and let me know who is interested. There will be RV camping on the grounds the night before on Saturday September 18th. this will be dry camping with no hookups. So if you are coming a distance come stay the night before and bring your RV/ trailer. The cafe at the airpark has good food and there is a great Mexican Restaurant just across the road. This is a great chance to get together before the event and do some bench racing and final prep on the trucks before hooking to the sled on Sunday.

There will also be a show and shine and vendors / sales as I mentioned. The airpark is a really cool little operating airport that also has a lounge, billiards, a swimming pool and more that will all be available. So you can bring the wife and kids and they will have something to do other than sniff diesel all day. Plus the airpark is planning on having a hot rod car show on the same day. For more information on the location, go to www.aguadulceairparkranch.com For any other questions about the event, or vendor/sponsor info, email me at craig@toolboxproductions.net
This is socaps chance to get noticed in sled pulling in CA so come on out.

Forgot to post a link to the venue. For more info on the location got to:
    www.aguadulceairparkranch.com
I will get more up about details shortly.

    Thanks

Re: Sled Pull in Southern California Sept. 19th

I'm glad some of you have some interest. I have a flyer that is just about done. Biggest thing is to get the word out and get people aware. There is no reason Southern Cal. can't have a monster sled pull event like Muncie and whatever else. We have a lot of people here and a lot of diesel trucks. The sad truth is that the rest of the country has this image of us Cali. boys as all show and no go. We are accused of spending lots of money on trucks and accessories and then just cruising the blvds. and staring at our rides in the driveway. It is time we put an end to this stereotype. I know there are lots of us out here who will put our money where are mouths are, so lets get to it. And you Ford guys are carrying the torch because there are more of you than anyone else.

I will continue to post info as I get it and whoever is interested in putting some flyers around, let me know. I will fax a copy to you.
    Thanks guys.

Hey guys, just got some interesting news. I'm not making any promises, but I have one of the big off road type magazines that says they are pretty much in for the event. If this goes through, it could be breakthrough for the sport of sled pulling. Keep your fingers crossed and I will let you know. This would do wonders for the magnitude of the event.

Re: Sled Pull in Southern California Sept. 19th

OK, here is a link to the rules. Just go to the bottom two pages of the rule sheet. The only ones that apply to us are Street Modified Diesel and Extreme Diesel. Each one of those classes will be broken up in to 7500 lb and 8500 lb categories(4 classes in all) so there should be a place for everyone to fit in. I'm not sure how strict they are yet on the safety portion of the rules. I know as time goes on they will begin to enforce this stuff more and more. Let me know if there are any more questions, otherwise just keep spreading the word. Any of you who would be interested in passing out flyers to friends or anyone else who might be interested as a spectator or competitor? Thanks guys. On Edit: Here is an actual copy of the rules so everyone can see them.

What do you guys think? The Chevy guys over at thedieselplace are getting pretty worked up. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/for...635&PN=1&TPN=1

I hope you powerstroke guys come out and make a showing. This is a good chance for a little friendly rivalry between brands.

Re: Sled Pull in Southern California Sept. 19th

Hey guys, just a heads up. I just got confirmation that one of the baddest Ford pullers in the country is planning on coming out for the 1st annual High Desert Diesel Roundup and Sled Pull. His name is Frank Puskarich (aka powersnorter on some other boards) and he comes out of Pennsylvania I believe. Anyway, this will be the only chance to see this truck run out here on the west coast. Also rumor has it that the Tulare event has been cancelled for this year. So this is the event to come to. And now you Ford guys have a real solid contender coming out for the "Extreme" class. Ether come out to show him up or come out to cheer him on, just get out for this one. See you September 19th.
