    egt gauge install

Can anyone recommend someone to install an EGT gauge (tap and wire it up) near San Bernardino County. I am in Apple Valley near Victorville up the 15 freeway. Thanks

Lot's of people will load up the drill bit with grease to catch the chips,or use a little magnet to get them out after tapping. Personally I would take the manifold off, because anything you leave in there is going to go straight through the turbo.

i wouldnt waste your money on having someone do it.. its super easy... its a 1/8th NPT tap that you will need for the EGT probe...

OK, I will give it a shot. I would like to do it on the truck instead of pulling the manifold. How much of a job is it to pull the manifold?

the manifold isnt fun, it doesnt need to come off, thats just what steve would do, to take the time and be perfect. you can get away with drilling it and cleaning it out with a magnet, you'll be fine have faith

I used a shop vac after I drilled, then aagain after I tapped. I think seen the info on diesel manor web site. It also made life a whole lot easier using a drill index insted of just drilling the hole with one drill bit, I used a bunch, made for less shavings.

    Good luck

I pulled my manifold out to do it, not hard just VERY time consuming. Diesel Manor has great gauge install sheets too...

DON'T load the tap or drill with grese a tap and/or drill bit are designed to make the shavings come out of the hole not go into it! Also putting grease in them will make the shaving stick to the manifold and make it hard if you want to vacuum it out. I just ran the drill through the manifold on the motor, tapped it, installed the EGT probe and then started it up and drove it around to check operation. I didn't feel the need to vacuum as all the shavings came out toward me and did not go in the manifold.

Here is the Diesel manor egt instruction excerpt: 3-Gauge Install Pictures

The total instructions: Gauge Installations at DieselManor- 2003-2007 6.0L Powerstroke

    They are pretty good instructions.
