    Engine Light.. then stall

    Everyone has helped before, need some help again. Mainly just use my 96 PSD for towing, took off the other morning to my brothers house made it about 2 miles then the engine light came on and the truck acted like it went into some power down mode (didnt stall) stayed idling but would barely move when i gave her some gas. Stopped the truck immediately, went to turn off the key and it revved really high, chugged and finally died. Turned the ignition off , let it sit for about 30 seconds started it back up no problems and the engine light went off. Went another 1/4 mile or so and same thing happens.

    What i have done so far to try and fix it.

    changed cps.. no change (tach has always moved even when it was acting up)

    checked all fuses including # 22 (changed it out anyway)
    checked fuel in bowl
    pulled out chip to see if it was causing the problems.. no luck

    almost seems like the PCM keeps cycling?
    I can go out and start it up no problem,runs great, no engine light etc,
    then all of a sudden it almost dies and light comes on, dont have access to a scanner atm, thought i'd check with you all here first since you helped me before

    any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have had a customers truck do the same. Result ended up being pcm.

    Thanks FarmTruck, would a scan tell me this or is there a way to check this?

    Ok finally got it scanned by our mobile mechanic at work.

    1211 IPR valve failed, stuck, or shorted to ground ...


    so after doing some research this could be a couple of things
    let me know if this sounds right


    -HPOP can't keep up or may have a fuel pressure issue..Injector o rings
    -IPR solenoid
    -new injector o-rings

    Ya it could be any of the above, Does your oil pressure gauge move up at all when your cranking the engine?
