    rims/tires for drag racing.

Anyone have experience on selecting rims for drag racing? Are the ford factoy wheels pretty light? and will hold up to the abuse? or should i look elsewhere? not looking to run slicks. any input is appreciated.

my wheels are not factory and they weigh alot. would be nice to have a set dedicated to drag racing anyway. and hopefully shed a bit of weight. help me go a little faster.

Also consider wheel size. I went with 18" to have a little more sidewall and flex than a 20" wheel. Although the 18's are 18X9 and the 20 you could get a 20X10. Stock wheels are only 7 or 7.5" wide I believe. I would not trust them with wide tires and low pressure at the track.

I never knew the MT Classic IIs were light because I had big tires on them. Not sure what they weigh but I do like the Centerlines I have with Proxies.

I went with factory forged wheels and Toyo Proxes for the track. Did my research and it was the most cost effective route to take for me. It shaved over a 10th off my 1/8th mile track times. Left to Right in the photo:

    - (Daily Combo) Nitto Terra Grappler 285/70/17: 78.2 lbs each
    - Factory wheel/tire combo - BFG Rugged Trail 265/70/17: 73.0 lbs each
    - Race wheel/tire combo - Toyo Proxes S/T 285/60/17: 61.6 lbs each

The factory forged rims weigh 23.2lbs a piece.
