    Rod R/R labor $$$?

About what could I expect, dollar-wise, for the labor to R/R my stinkin' PMR's for forged rods? I'm thinking very long-term about taking my truck to WOP for a QSSB instead of propping up my stock-ish turbo or doing uppipes/a 38R/ceramic coatings. While I'm there and while they're at it (most expensive words in the dictionary) it seems like it would make sense to have them pull the engine and put in some forged rods (Crowers/Hypermax/Cunningham rods would be great but they're so darn expensive I couldn't justify 'em) so that, in essence, I wouldn't be gold-plating a turd putting that snazzy turbo on a PMR-limited motor.

It may be expensive to build it right the first time but a lot more expensive if it breaks or windows a block.

I talked with Jacob @ WOP today and he said that I should figure on $4K if nothing else needs replacement, just to be on the safe side. That was quite a bit more than I had figured and so I'm thinking that conservative tuning with my damn PMR's might be a better choice for now. I tried cyphering out what a safe 500 RWHP would cost me and for that amount of coin (far side of ten grand), I could have a CR 5.9 conversion and since I'm just dreaming for now, that's the way I'd rather go if I fell out the window and landed in a pile of money but still wanted speed out of my daily driver.

just do it yourself... probaly be a good thing to learn anyway..theres no reason you would need to go to utah for a stock rebuild...any machine shop could do that for you...you can probaly find the rods for free, hell i have a set of forged rods if you want, 1000 or so for the rebuild kit..and probaly another 1000 to rebuild it if you paid someone. you could certainly r&r the motor yourself.

Hmmm--not a bad idea at all. I've always thought, though, if I were to build an engine for a swap, it would have 2 fewer cylinders and 1.4 liters less displacement than the motor that's between my framerails now. I suppose that if I take my time to find the right block and build on that, the cost might not be too prohibitive vs. doing it all in one big lump...
