    Grr..

Anyone ever had problems with their ignition switch not working?

I had problems like this once or twice and a quick wiggle always fixed it up. Well yesterday it didn't and the truck is dead as a 7000lb door stop. I don't even get doorlocks and lights (and my batteries are fine). I suspect I have warn something out.

Has anyone seen problems like this? Also as the new guy in town, where is the closest dealer if I have to get a tow? I am in Yorba Linda.

Argh.. Trying very hard to get this fixed before next Sunday..

    Rick..

I don't know ...yet. The lock cylinder usually pushes a switch box, but newer models may be different. The lock cylinder will come out, but you need to take off the plastic covers.

Yeah, my goal is to go pull the covers when I get home from work (in an hr or two) and see if there is anything interesting to see. I will update this post with what I find.

You can get a new switch from AutoZone for about $15. I made the new switch use the old key and posted how I did that on the DieselStop 94-97 forum. There was an additional post in that thread from another member (Renegade) who's method was easier than mine. The post would be in the archives (maybe the second archive back). Cheers!

Hey Patrick.. I just found your post and printed it out. After work, I will go grab a new switch and see how well I can follow your and Renegade's instructions.

    Thanks,
    Rick..

    Re: Grr..

I got lazy and didn't worry about changing the keying but it is definitely the easiest fix I have ever done - pop it out, pop in the new one.

I never use the key in the door anyway (key fob instead), so I didn't figure changing the keying was worth the effort.

    Thanks again,

    Rick..
