    Question EGR Issues

    So big surprise right? I had CEL and noticed my truck smoking white at start up. Took it to Sunrise and they replaced the EGR valve and cleaned the intake manafold per Donald the service writer. Looked under the hood and noticed the coolant was really low, Donald topped it off with about a gallon and said that the system burped thats why it went low.

    Just as soon as I drove it away I noticed it smoking black at take off, but as soon as the turbo spooled up the black smoke went away, Took it back to Sunrise, (drove the rental car to OC Diesel last Saturday :(

    Donald called me last night for me to authorize the tech to drive it home so he could evaluate it under an uphill run to his house.

    Picked it up today Donald said they replaced the EGR cooler, oil cooler and cleaned the turbo (said by tech to be sticking at times) and coolant flush.

    The work order also said that the engine was hydro locked and they had to remove the glow plugs to drain the cylinders?? Wow, when I dropped it back off to them the coolant was right up to level where Donald topped it off.

    Donald is a great guy to work with, I just hope the tech knows his stuff because the truck still smokes a little and has major turbo lag now and I noticed a spot coolant leaking from the truck tonight.

    Anyone have or had any of these issues? I leaving on vacation with the grand kids to the sierra's and don't want any problemos if you know what I mean.

    radiator probably cracked as far as the drops of coolant.

    Sounds like the tech is having a hard time diagnosing the problem and isn't road testing it after what ever he repairs.

    Radiators only leak in 08's.

    They have a recall sticker to put on your coolant bottle that shows that the correct level is actually below the low line and that's why it puke's when full.

    where do you see the coolant dripping?

    the smoke and lag could be from a bad CAC boot or a compromised I/C...

    Tightened up all of the hoses, disconnected the batteries then drove it really hard for awhile. It stopped dripping and seem reprogram itself, it runs alot better now. Ill keep my fingers crossed.:cheers444:
