Thread: Petersen Museum...After Event Report

A good time was had by all!!
Twenty Six SoCAPS members and guests toured the Museum, shopped at the gift shop, and had a super lunch at the Johnny Rocket's Diner in the Museum.

The tour docent was knowledgeable and answered all the questions he got!!
I didn't know that in the beginning of the Automobile, if there wasn't a gasoline station handy (and often there wasn't) you could buy gasoline at the local market in glass jars!!! An other thing I learned was that the first race car tracks were paved with wooden planks!! And, the Helms Bakery delivery trucks...I remember them back when I was a kid!!

For lunch, we took over the Diner's patio, put all the tables together, and had a fun time along with the good food. Thanks to SoCAPS and Bobby for treating us to lunch!!

As we begin the Christmas Season, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Great New Year!!

Our next meeting/event is the 9th Anniversary of SoCAPS Meeting at Sunrise Ford on Sunday, March 4th, 2012!!

Ditto on the good time. I found the history behind everything as presented to be more interesting than the cars themselves; the docent, period memorabilia, and the pictures associated with the various displays really gave a good representation of what things must have been like. Not only that, but it was good to see old friends again as well as getting to make some new ones.

Looking forward to March.

I also enjoyed looking at the photos and stories next to the cars. Interesting to say the least,, brings back memories for us "semi" older peeps. There were a few cars there that I wouldn't mind driving around in. The last one I picked was a Jag valued at 485K. I have expensive taste.

Thanks to everyone for setting it up. Was nice being around the people we haven't seen in awhile.

I wish I could have gone, but I've been laid out sick for almost a week. So I'm looking forward to March! I'm glad everyone had a good time and so many people were able to attend!

It was a nice time and I liked how they set the musuem up by time frame. Thanks for lunch Bobby.

It was great seeing everyone again! Very cool place, the boys and I really enjoyed it. I wish that we had more time to browse around, but Dustin had a Cub Scout meeting we had to get to. I think we might make another trip down there.

Thanks once again Samuel for organizing this meet and I look forward to see everyone in March.

I took a ton of pictures, I just haven't had time to upload them yet. My camera has been sitting on my desk at work now for four days and I haven't gotten any closer to touching it. I'll try to get them up this weekend.

Nice collection of pictures!!
I had planned to also take pictures...put my camera on the charger to be sure it was ready.

Got to the museum that morning...and realized the camera was still at home on the charger!!! Oh well!!
