OK, 2006 f350 diesel, dually 4x4. Will it hurt anything to have the front hubs manually locked for the winter, for say 3 months. I heard it will use more fuel, but will it hurt anything else ??

You will hate it when you go to make sharp turns. the front end will hop and skip and sound like it is going to break something.

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said:
"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out." Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
Its hard on the U-joints and thats what causes the hopping. Can't really hurt the diff. since it's not a locker.

Seems to me you only get the hopping if the transfer case is in 4wd. Just the hubs alone should be all right.

i think its case by case for the hubs locked and hopping. Mateo who lives near me can't drie with his hub locked or make corners. but i can drive around with mine locked all day. not problems with skipping or binding. i really think its truck by truck.

Yeah, I never had that happen in either my OBS (97) or my super duty. It seems to me that if you're getting hopping with hubs locked that somehow you're connected to the transfer case. The usual cause of hopping is the difference between the front and rear axles.
when you lock the hubs you are turing the drive shaft to you tranfer case and you are connected to it ... but the only difference when there not locked there not turing the shaft ... i dont knwo if its truck by truck bases ... but i get it when i lock mine also ... and it also wears the front seal on the transfer case just leting it trurn like that .. so i get out and lock mine i dnt really drive with them un less i knwo that im going to need it ..
