    Stroked Lightning goes East

    Stroked Lightning will be going to Bowling Green , Kentucky June 9-10 for the 2006 TS Performance Outlaw Diesel Race.

    Stroked Lightning will also be going to Indianapolis , Indiana June 24-25 for the DHRA Diesel Nationals.

    Will Stroked Lightning still be going east this year?? I haven't heard anything recently so I just wanted to check....

    Our tow truck, Gene's F450, took a dump today (fuel in the water), so Stroked Lightning won't make it to the Kentucky race. Hopefully Gene will have his truck fixed in time for the Indianapolis race.

    If you need to borrow a tow truck you can use mine. I'll just need to borrow a beater to get to work in and you have to be back before the 24th of July.

    Yep. First run he couldn't get the dang thing to spool until 1/3 of the way down the track due to the new mods. Ran a 13.4 at 107mph on #2 only.

    Second run he figured out how to spool it at the line. This time he turned on the nitrous which resulted in a heck of a BANG! The nitrous was set to turn on at 1.5 seconds after he left the line. Observers said the front wheels came off the ground at launch. Then 1.5 seconds later the nitrous came on and one hellacious KABOOM came out from under the hood. Gene said it was so intense it made a boot blow-off seem like a mere firecracker. Apparently there was so much air already from the turbo that it couldn't take the nitrous.

    After he was towed off the track, he started it back up and drove back to the pits. He said everyone was cheering when it started back up, since the nitrous backfire sounded like the motor had completely blown up. Then the announcer said something like "You Dodge boys better watch out because this Ford is coming after you. I've never seen a Ford launch that hard." (I may have a few details confused here, so take that quote with a grain of salt until Gene verifies it.) For what it's worth, Gene said it launched harder than it ever has.

    Anyway, Gene is headed to Iowa for the 4th with his family. While he's there he's going to pull the valve covers and check the pushrods to see if any of them were bent.

    I think we may be done with nitrous for a while. It doesn't seem to be necessary anymore. But we definitely need to work on the setup because, according to Gene, it's a completely different truck.

    P.S. Gene worked his A$$ off last week to get the truck put back together. He deserves a big congratulations for his herculean effort. He completed assembling everything, started it up, drove it right on the trailer, then headed straight to Indy. Unbelievable dedication.
