It is all set up.http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/grin.gif
As you may have noticed we have a new button on the entrance page. A paypal connection dedicated to donations to sponsor a Platoon of U.S.Army Soldiers stationed in Iraq (My son's platoon). They are a group of over 30 service personnel who are Helicopter mechanics responsible for keeping the Troops in the air. On the ground they fight to keep control of the PSD's that everyone wants to drive instead of the hummers.

They need things it is difficult for them to get over there.

I would like to post a running total of the donations.
As I receive your donations I will ask you if I can post you name along with your donation amount.

I will purchase and ship the stuff to the guys and gals. I will also post what I send. Along any communications I receive from the troops.

These KIDS Need our support. Weather you agree with the reason they are there or not, they are there, in harms way to be sure you have the right to have and voice your opinion. And they are volenteers. http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/usa.gif

If you wish to participate in some other form please let me know.

Thank You, Sheryl http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/usa.gif

I'm in!!
Thank you for setting this up!!

For anyone who doesn't know about PayPal...it's real easy. I'd set up my PayPal account up a long time ago for buying things on ebay.com. Using PayPal is just like buying anything on the internet using a credit card.

A member has expressed concern that posting amounts with names might be intimidating for those who have less to give. I never think this way because every dollar helps. But I can see his point. I will post a growing list and dollar amounts in a special post. Which I will edit daily for now and weekly as interest slows down.

I just sent you a small PayPal donation. My kid was over in Iraq too (82nd Airborne), but he's back at Fort Bragg now (whew!)
I feel your angst. My prayers for the troops. http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/usa.gif

Wow this is all great.

I did finally get to talk to Mark. The internet has been down quite a bit.

The platoon we are sponsoring is called.
1st. Cav. Div. Alpha company, 615th ASB, Shop Platoon.

He said they had a ruff week last week with the bad guys tossing shells into their camp but it is all quiet this week. Thank you to the cool helicoptors Mark and his Platoon keep flying.

He is getting a list together of what they need.
I am working on the list I got in his first few emails.

Dusty Truck, My son is also with the 82nd AIRBORNE and is currently stationed at Fort Brag. BUT, my son tells me his unit the 307th Forward Support Battalion may redeploy to Iraq in the near future.

Hey, small world. Our kid is with the 782nd Mobile Support Battalion (I think that's right) and gets to ride and wrench on the trucks. Hopefully, he's gonna stay at Fort Bragg for a while yet.

Yeah it is a small world--my son works on trucks too. I know they keep him busy and he seems to have adjusted well to military life---He told his Mom yesterday about a rumor that the boss may pay the 82nd a visit in the near future---the boss being the POTUS---President of the United States,

With your son we now know of three SOCAP'S members who have son's in the Army and AIRBORNE---they all must have good gene's!

Kinda interesting that all three learned to jump out of perfectly good airplanes. I am not to sure about their logic on that move. http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/grin.gif

An Update!!!!
Looks like both Gary (superF350) U.S. Marine Corps and my son Mark's U.S. Army Platoon will be home soon.

Unfortunatley John Bosch's son is getting ready to head over there.

Do we have any other family members who can share our support?

A local connection is improtant.

Let me know.
