View Full Version : Stereo upgrades continue!

Im using the Knotts berry farm show as motivation to finish up my stereo & lift install. I went to Josh at sound advice for help, I love working on stereos but there are lots of things I know are beyond my limits, so I leave those to the experts. This is what my dash looked like when I dropped it off. I told Josh I wanted it flush mounted to look like a fatory option.

I dropped off a couple of spray cans with a color I thought would match, when we put it in the color was way off. Josh's guy tells me no problem, there is a place up the street that can custom mix a color that will be a perfect match, bring it back and I'll spray it for free. Here is how it looks now.

I did this one with the help from my brother. Im not sure who at Ford thought it would be a good idea to install rear speakers and then cover those speakers with the rear seats, in my truck they really got lost. Watching a movie from the back seat you would miss some of the dialog unless the stereo was really cranked up. I took some 3/4" MDF and wrapped it in vinyl. I used a pair of coax 6 1/2" Bostons and mounted everything to the door. Here is a picture of how that came out.

I will continue to update you guys on my progress, I still hope to delete the center seat and make a center console for the dvd player, CB, & scanner. I hope this rain lets up soon so I can continue to tear up my truck, I have about two months until my deadline so I could really use some sunshine.
Josh and the guys at Sound advice, Thanks, it came out great. You guys have another happy customer.
Jim, you better think twice about answering your phone in the next couple of months if my name pops up on your caller ID.

My stereo is stock...I've always wanted a good stereo, but...the $ has always gone to other things. :/
