Why do you have 29 gallons? I think mine is 40.

Probably the difference between a long bed and a short bed in the size of the fuel tank.

Ya, the dealer said the tanks for long bed are 34 gallons!

I'm not sure why there is so much incorrect info out there, but here is a page from the Ford web site:

http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/superduty/features/specs/

Down from the top of the page just a bit, it will say "Super Duty Specifications". Just below that, click the the box that says "Capacities".

Where it shows two capacities in the box...one is short bed, the other is long bed.

Short bed....30.5 gal.
Long bed.....38 gal.
=======================================

Just for info, here are the capacities for the 2007 and older 6.0L:
Short bed....29 gal.
Long bed.....38 gal.

That is nice to know, still to small! I think the factory should build a 50 gallon plastic tanks.

my fuel tanks are metal. I thought that was strange. I've had plastic ones on the 00, 04, 05 and 06 models.

I pumped 16 gallons in the front one and 35 gallons in the rear. They're supposed to be 19F and 40R per ford's specs. I still had about 40 miles to empty on each, as I recall.

Your tanks are metal and you have two of them, wow it sounds like a 97 model!

pretty much since the inception of the superduty, cab and chassis get metal tanks....standard pickups get plastic ones (all aft axle tanks are metal, including all excursions)
