i have an 01 f350 powerstoke, ive had the edge evolution downloader on it for a while now and it runs hard, i just installed my boost and egt gauges yesterday and found out that on the extreme setting, the egt's will peg out my gauge at 1600 if im in it for more than 30 seconds or so.
this is not cool, and i had nooooo idea that it was running that hot. it also has the flowmaster turbo back 4" exaust on it. is this normal? i knew it would run hotter than normal tuned up but thats crazy. just driving around it never gets higher than 1000, but if i have to brake off some duramx pile at a stop light i dont want to burn my truck down. also it makes a max of 22psi at WOT at 3000ft above sea level, is that about average?

Your EGTs on the Extreme setting sound normal. I stay away from my Exterme setting, the truck is too wild.

Also 22lbs of boost is normal. I keep throwing P1121(I think that's the correct code) when I get on it in Race mode.

i usualy run around in race mode, and it sometimes throws the same two codes , inj pressure to hi/lo and overboost.

That is hot. How much HP is your extreme setting?

Those 6.sloooows http://www.socaps.comimages/graemlins/wink.gif have good intercoolers, plus I doubt you could get it too high unless you were pullin something.

Back on topic, I think those temps sound a little high if you are not pulling anything, mehoff. Though it is pretty easy to make em shoot up with a chip or programmer. I don't even have an intercooler yet and I can only easily push the temps to 1300+ when getting on it real hard uphill.

What temps are you running when cruising on the freeway, like 65-70mph?

freeway and around town they are around 600-800 never over 1000, its just if im on it , say making a pass at the track they will shoot to 1600 say mid 3rd gear. the evo tuner is suposed to add 110hp on the highest setting and im sure its making all of that. when ever i tow stuff i turn it down to the tow setting, and i havent looked at the temps with that set up yet.

Just a question... Is that Flowmaster a straight through or is it chambered? I knew a guy that had a chambered FM on his PSD. If it is chambered, get rid of it now!!! The back pressure those things cuase will really make the EGT's go through the roof.

I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you let it cool down you should be fine, prior to shut down

Yeah but you don't want to run 1300 for too long, either, that's about the max you can run all day.

Well I guess I must be lucky cause I run more than that when towing the whole drive.

i think all flowmasters are chambered!

I have a correction...I run about 700-1000...no more than 1350, and only for a short period...Sorry for the confusion.

I would get rid of the flow-master.

A chambered mufler on a deisel will get you those type of egt's.
Try to replace it with a flow through style muffler as soon as you can.

is your intake stock? may want to suck some more air, could mean 1-200 degrees less. but 1600 means things could start melting. if your gauge is post turbo that # is really high. is the gauge digital or analog? analog is usually more accurate.
