    40 inch tire requirments

Came up on a good deal for some 40 inch tires with rims what would be the things i need to do to be able to run them? i got a 8 inch lift and was told they will fit on that, but my diffs are 3.73 will that be able to push the 40s and for how long? i do plan on redoing them eventually but ill be pretty straped for cash after i get these... Thanks

Im running a dr 10.5 lift and toyo 40" tires...On the street its fine, when offroading if i articulate too hard it will start hitting.
IMHO i can't see 40" working on an 8" lift without some cutting!
As far as gears with 373's i was at low rpms blowing smoke trying to light the turbo,i got 456's asap and its been great ever since.

I dont know if 40's will fit on your 8" lift either. I have 9.5 and i havent test fit the 40's, but i think they will just fit.

You will def need new gears. 4.56 at a minimum, 4.88 should be just about perfect, and 5.13 if you dont do any freeway cruising..

i have a 10.5" lift on 40s on my ex and they fit pretty good.. but i doubt they will fit on a 8" lift... depends on how wide they are and the off set of your wheels... also 3.73 on 40's is a dog... def go 4.56...

With a positive offset wheel you should be able to run 40's on a 8" kit but if you go offroading I wouldn't go to extreme.

mine fit. just need to trim the bumper. but that is with a mtr 40x13.5x17 on a 17x10. if its wider then your gonna have problems. i rub on my leafs on tight turns but i have dynatracs combo kit so my turning radius is better than stock. your gears will need to be changed but see how it goes. 4.56 for sure
